Hassinger Equine has been serving the equine community since 2003. Providing top of the line veterinary and rehab care for performance horses of all disciplines. Our veterinary team sees appointments in house but mainly travels to AQHA and USEF shows as well as to do sports medicine farm calls in our two fully equipped mobile hospitals. Both mobile hospitals are equipped with digital radiography, ultrasonography, 1m endoscopes, blood machines and full regenerative medicine capabilities (IRAP, Stem cells, PRP, Pro-Stride) and ability to see medical cases. At our busy shows it is not uncommon for us to work on 10+ lameness cases a day.
The rehab facility’s goal is to provide a complete package for equine athletes recovering from injury or to help increase performance goals. This package includes supporting horses with a well versatile and accomplished team of veterinarians, farriers, and staff. Therapies available include an Aqua-pacer water treadmill, Horse-Gym dry treadmill, ECB Leg Spa, Thera-plate, low frequency ultrasound, E-Stim, magna-wave and many other technologies.
We are a rare sports medicine exclusive practice that covers a variety of disciplines, include horse show medicine as well as rehabilitation for some of the top equine athletes and professionals. Most of the horses we work on are insured and valuable, which allows us to do complete diagnostics, regenerative medicine and rehab. We take our moto, your performance is our passion, to heart in providing the best opportunity for your horse to reach their full potential while providing outstanding costumer service. The team consists of three veterinarians, one in house farrier and plenty of support staff.

As an extern duties would include assisting with trailer set up, jogging and holding horses, scrubbing for joint injections, assisting with radiographs and ultrasound and assisting in medical cases. Although it would not be a tremendous amount of hands on experience it would be a lot of exposure to equine sports medicine. Cases will be discussed with the extern, when appropriate. The extern would also be required to research a new topic and present it to the staff. For information on our internship, please visit the AAEP avenues page. Housing can be provided to externs. As well, when we travel all travel expenses, food and lodging is provided by the clinic.
Additional Salary Information: salary is for interns only, externs are unpaid
