Full time associate veterinarian needed for our 100% small animal practice located in a northern suburb of Tampa. We are a rapidly expanding practice, soon to relocate to a 9600s.f. free standing building. Fiscal year 2017 revenues of $1.17M in this non-corporate, family owned business were achieved with 1.2 veterinarians. The part time associate has moved away, and we are replacing her with a full time associate.
The position is open to veterinarians with minimal experience, and the compensation package will be tailored to the experience and skillset of the new hire. Expect a high level of mentoring and one-on-one oversight from the owner/head of medicine and surgery. The new vet should be receptive to all fields of instruction, including medicine and surgery, especially as it pertains to diagnoses. Mentoring will also include attention to customer needs, marketing, organizational behavior, proper business practices, and all aspects of business management. That said, ours is a practice in which associates will never be held to certain goals or guidelines in terms of production. We are a non-corporate practice.
Ours is a very busy practice, with a high surgical caseload. We perform minimal spays and neuters, as there is a local spay-neuter clinic that attends to that. Our surgeries range from standard lump removals to advanced orthopedic surgeries, including ACL, FHO, and complicated fracture repair, as well as soft tissue surgeries that include PU's, subtotal colectomy, GDV, intestinal anastomosis, etc. While no previous advanced surgical experience is required, the new associate should have an interest in expanding her surgical skills and performing most of these surgeries. However, an exceptional candidate without surgical proclivities will still be considered.
Besides a high level of mentoring, the new associate should look forward to working with the most advanced equipment available to the general practitioner. This includes a complete Idexx Catalyst/Lasercyte facility, including clinical UA and SnapshotDX, a Nikon E200 cytology microscope, SonoScape S6 Ultrasound, Rayence digital x-ray, K-laser Cube 4 cold therapy laser, Tono-Pen AviaVet digital tonopen, and much more. Advanced equipment requests beyond these are always considered.
Ours is an extremely friendly and low-stress work environment, and the successful candidate will be one who is people oriented, enjoys working with others, and expects to bring a smile to work every day. We stress making sure all employees have maximum time off, and emphasizing that all team members have a fulfilling family life is as important to our management team as is any aspect of productivity or customer satisfaction.
Interested candidates should apply with resume and cover letter, and we'll be happy to discuss more details in person.
Small animal surgery, medicine, dentistry
Additional Salary Information: Remuneration is salaried, but commensurate with production. Therefore, top end is theoretically much higher.
