Practice Highlights
- The clinical team you will join is highly experienced and very collaborative. Practice Owner, Dr. Jeff Wittman (UC-Davis) is joined by Dr. Janet Halsebo (UC-Davis), Dr. Rebecca “Becky” Clinite (UC-Davis), Dr. Michaela Henry (University of Sydney), traveling surgeon Dr. Justin Uhl, DACVS-SA (UC-Davis); and is supported by six highly experienced, registered technicians and five tech assistants and three animal husbandry assistants.
- Our 9,000 sq ft, five exam room hospital underwent a comprehensive interior redesign in 2021, and features ample treatment space, two dedicated surgery suites, two dedicated dentistry surgical suites, and an impressive list of clinical equipment.
- Dr. Wittman has a long history mentoring Sierra’s veterinarians and externs. Additionally, he has previously served as President of the SCAVMA and remains deeply involved at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, helping to shape the school’s future growth.

About the Opportunity
We are looking to hire an Associate Veterinarian as an additional doctor for the Sierra team. This opening is due to our steady, continued growth stemming from the local community’s respect for our medicine and our client care. About You
You are a practicing veterinarian, licensed, and in good standing with the State of California! Additionally, you are committed to practicing high-quality, evidence-based medicine and could consider yourself a lifetime learner. If you have specific clinical interests, that is wonderful; we are always looking to expand the spectrum of services the hospital is able to offer to its clients. You are patient with pet owners, even the cranky ones, and generally have a sunny disposition in the exam room and treatment areas. Our team is very collaborative, so if you naturally like to teach others, that is excellent too. In terms of your clinical experience, we are flexible: new grads are welcome as are seasoned veterans of the profession.
About the Team
The full-time staff currently consists of our 3 Veterinarians, 1 part-time veterinarian, 1 traveling surgeon, 6 RVTs, 5 Receptionists, and 5 awesome Tech Assistants! The team consistently praises the hard-working, family-like atmosphere in the building.

About the Practice
For over 30 years, Sierra Veterinary Care has served the needs of pet owners and their dogs, cats, exotics and birds throughout the Sonora area. Our modern hospital features ample treatment space, four surgery suites, and a very impressive list of clinical equipment. We make every effort to invest in our clinical capabilities and would be delighted to add to our service offerings if you possess unique skills. From a workflow perspective, we operate on 20-30 minute appointment blocks, do not allow walk-ins, do not provide after-hours on-call, and are closed on weekends.
