About the Medical Director Role
The Medical Director (MD) works in close partnership with field leadership and plays a key role in shaping the medical quality, culture, and patient care standards of the hospital. This role combines clinical excellence with hands-on leadership, mentorship, and operational partnership.
The MD:
- Sets and maintains the highest medical standards for the hospital
- Provides mentorship, coaching, and support to veterinarians and the care team
- Models a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
- Partners with hospital leadership to influence overall financial performance
- Helps guide strategic priorities and hospital initiatives
- Maintains a strong work ethic, integrity, and supportive leadership presence
- Performs all duties of a staff veterinarian while taking on additional leadership responsibilities
Because our hospital sees a mix of primary care and emergent cases — without typical ER hours — our Medical Director has opportunities to work up unique cases and truly shape the medical direction of the practice.
Schedule
- Full-Time
- Hospital Hours:
- Monday: 8:30 am – 7:00 pm
- Tuesday: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
- Wednesday: 8:30 am – 7:00 pm
- Thursday: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
- Friday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Saturday: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (Every other Saturday)
- Sunday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Cases
- A mix of primary care, urgent/sick visits, soft tissue and select orthopedic surgeries, and unique cases stemming from our community’s limited access to specialty care.

Compensation is negotiable and based on experience, skill set, and other relevant credentials.
This position may also be eligible for additional variable pay programs.

Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM/VMD) or equivalent
- Licensure in good standing to practice in Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain
- Strong commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine
- Leadership experience preferred but not required
- Current DEA license or ability to obtain
- Completion of at least 30 hours of accredited CE per calendar year
