Description
Mobile Imaging Veterinary Ultrasound (MiVU) is looking for a passionate and experienced veterinarian to provide some mobile ultrasound services as needed throughout the DMV area (DC, Maryland, and Virginia).MiVU, established in 2012, is a successful and growing veterinary service that provides convenient diagnostic ultrasound services to over 500 animal hospitals in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. With the high demand for veterinary ultrasound, along with our mission to ensure all primary veterinarians have access to this useful diagnostic tool, we are excited to expand our team in the DMV.
We encourage veterinarians with an interest and experience in ultrasound to apply. You will be trained for up to 4 months and compensated during training. MiVU offers great perks including, but not limited to: normal hours (M–F 9–5), no weekends, PTO, health benefits, 401k, bonus pay, CE allowance, licensing coverage, and a company vehicle.
Description
- Conduct an ultrasound scan to complete an abdominal exam, thoracic exam, confirm pregnancy, estimate litter size, confirm fetal viability, investigate parathyroids & thyroid glands, cryptorchid exam, ocular exam, and/or a general health screen.
- Communicate clearly with referring veterinarians after outpatient scans, and occasionally with pet owners when immediate attention is required.
- Administer light sedation at MiVU's outpatient facility as needed (DEA license required).
- Perform mobile ultrasound exams across the DMV region on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, including abdominal and thoracic exams, pregnancy confirmation, litter size estimation, fetal viability checks, parathyroid and thyroid evaluations, cryptorchid exams, ocular exams, and general health screens.
- Use echocardiography to assess cardiac pathology.
- Perform ultrasound-guided fluid cavity centesis.
- Conduct ultrasound-guided biopsies, including tru-cut tissue core (14ga) and fine-needle biopsies.
- Prepare accurate, detailed medical reports.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university.
- At least five years of veterinary clinical experience.
- Previous ultrasound experience is required. Preference will be given to those who can complete a full abdominal scan based on the ACVR Ultrasound consensus statement
- DEA License
Training Support
- On-the-job training provided by MiVU veterinarians for up to 4 months.
- Additional training and support provided by SVP internists, radiologists, and cardiologists.
- CE Course(s).

- Ability to operate a computer and other machinery, including a keyboard.
