- Part-Time Vetrinary Surgeon/DVM
Description
Main Role:
Performing soft tissue surgeries, including but not limited to spays, neuters, eye enucleations, amputations, and emergency exploratory procedures
Auxiliary Role:
Examining, diagnosing, treating illnesses and injuries, advising pet owners, and prescribing medication as needed
Complying and ensuring compliance with appropriate federal and state laws, veterinary ethics, as well as relevant statutes, policies, and office procedures
Obtaining and charting accurate medical histories, SOAP notes, and vitals
Collecting and preparing laboratory samples, such as those for fecal and urine analysis and/or dermatology/ear cytology, and interpreting and relaying results
Utilizing and maintaining medical equipment, including laboratory and anesthesia machines, surgical tools and packs, and any other tools used in daily operations
Requirements
Position Requirements:
DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution
Appropriate DEA and state licensure, including Alabama SCSR
Demonstrated professional and courteous demeanor with clients and staff
Must be team-oriented, possess strong communication skills and good judgment, and be able to manage stressful situations
Must have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and technology
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds alone and up to 50 pounds with assistance
