- Small Animal General Practice externship
Description
This is an externship position that can be 3 or 6 weeks in duration at a busy Small Animal Hospital based in Port Huron Township, MI.
The veterinary student will provide medical and preventative care to companion animals under the supervision of a Licensed Veterinarian. The responsibilities include: conducting examinations, diagnosing illnesses, developing treatment plans, and educating pet owners. The role also involves participation in collaborative care with a dedicated team of veterinary professionals to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.
Requirements
Proficiency in diagnostic tests, medical treatments, and preventative care of companion animals.
Strong communication and client education skills to promote the health and well-being of pets
Ability to work collaboratively with a team of veterinary professionals, including assistants and technicians
Familiarity with advanced veterinary equipment, such as digital X-rays, ultrasound, therapy lasers, and in-house lab testing
Commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care with a focus on patient and client experience
Veterinary Student from an accredited veterinary school (3rd or 4th year)
SAVMA membership and veterinary student professional liability insurance coverage for the entire duration of their veterinary externship.
