Description
Clinical Care: Conduct physical examinations to diagnose illnesses, diseases, and injuries. Develop treatment plans and prescribe medications.
Surgery & Procedures: Perform routine and complex surgeries, including spaying, neutering, and soft tissue procedures. Execute dental cleanings, extractions, and imaging (X-rays/ultrasound).
Preventive Health: Administer vaccinations and advise owners on nutrition, parasite control, and behavior.
Client Communication: Explain complex medical findings in simple terms and build trust with pet owners through empathetic consultation.
Team Leadership: Direct and mentor veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff to ensure efficient clinic flow.
Administrative: Maintain accurate and thorough medical records using SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan) templates.
Requirements
Education: A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
Licensing: A valid veterinary license in good standing for the state of practice.
Certifications: Most roles require a current DEA license and, in some cases, USDA accreditation.
