Veterinary Specialty Services provides advanced specialized care for animals, collaborating with veterinarians throughout the St. Louis area and beyond. We are a 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital committed to providing excellent advanced care for patients. We are a privately held company. Our state-of-the-art facility is fully equipped with the most advanced diagnostic and medical equipment. We are looking to add talented veterinary technicians to our team at our main location in Manchester, MO and our newer location in O'Fallon, MO. We are hiring due to growth.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Our technicians work directly in the ICU or a Speciality department (pending experience) to provide advanced patient care and client communication. We promote teamwork and helping each other across our hospital. Our areas of speciality include: Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Onocology and Critical Care.
Our technicians work 4-10 hour shifts or 5-8 hour shifts pending the business need. We also provide a shift differential for weekends and overnights. A technicians schedule is the same each week and only changes if there is a special business need or if the team member chooses to work an additional shift.
Responsibilities - include but are not limited to:
Provide restraint of patients to assist with exams and patient care
Obtain blood samples, place IV catheters, set up and continuous care for critical hospitalized patients.
Post-op patient recovery monitoring
Observe patients and recognize subtle changes in status
Perform physical exams on veterinary patients including obtaining vitals (TPRs, CRTs etc.)
Properly perform medical treatments on hospitalized patients including administering PO, IM, Sub Q and IV medications
Check in a clients after hours, enter charges, process payments, retrieve previous medical history
Perform drug calculations including CRI calculations and calculate fluid rates.
Two years of previous veterinary experience at a General Practice, Specialty Veterinary Hospital, Rescue or Emergency Hospital is preferred.
Highly motivated, team players, with a positive attitude. Additionally, you must be able to work efficiently, with an emphasis on multi-tasking and prioritization, and be able to thrive in a fast paced environment.
