Mixed or Small Animal Veterinarian in Shippensburg, PA
Burnt Mill Veterinary Center, LLC
May 6, 2018
Type & Experience Level:
Part Time or Full Time - Any experience level considered
DVM or equivalent
The Burnt Mill Veterinary Center in Shippensburg is seeking an associate veterinarian for a modern James Herriot-style practice. Established in 1974, there has been steady small and large animal growth, with increasing requests to see rodents, poultry, and exotic animals. The routine large animal work primarily consists of 50-100 cow dairy herd healths, along with seasonal equine vaccination and dentistry. In addition to sick animal calls for these patients, there is a smattering of beef, small ruminants, and swine.
Proficiency in “everything” is certainly not expected, but a willingness to be resourceful and work as a team is required. The practice also has a reputation for treating clients the way we would want to be treated and for maintaining a positive working environment.
Preference will be given to an experienced mixed-animal veterinarian who is interested in buy-in. However, new graduates or veterinarians desiring small animal or part-time work will also be considered if they seem like a good fit with the practice. The compensation package will be based on the applicant’s qualifications and their tailored position.
The practice is 15 minutes from Shippensburg University and 2 hours away from Pennsylvania State University with a cost of living that is substantially lower than neighboring cities. There is also an excellent local park system and plenty of outdoor opportunities. Harrisburg “international” airport is 1 hour away, with Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Dulles all within 3 hours.
Please apply online or call 717-423-6536 to discuss the position with Dr. Rhodes in more detail. I look forward to hearing from you.
