JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE: The PKB Animal Health Student Representative will serve as a liaison between PKB and the University/ College of Veterinary Medicine with which the student attends. The objective of this role is to increase the awareness, recognition, and future recommendation of PKB products. The PKB representative must be in good standing with its University in order to receive this positon. In addition, the PKB representative will be required to host tabling events and hand out PKB merchandise and literature to college students.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES/OBJECTIVES 1.Identifies potential areas for PKB Animal Health’s support of and involvement in college and student activities.
2.Educate and inform the college population of PKB products.
3.During activities, assists with the coordination/distribution of information, educational resources and product literature at the direction of the PKB Veterinarian/Sales Representative to assist in the support and awareness of PKB products.
4.Coordinates the implementation of a minimum of one PKB Animal Health sponsored activity for the semester. Facilitates this campus visit by the sales representative and the technical services veterinarian, including scheduling appointments with key university and faculty contacts and assisting with the arrangement of a suitable meeting or presentation site.
5.Ensures that PKB Animal Health, as represented by the technical services veterinarian, sales representative and student representative, follow all applicable college guidelines regarding company activities at the college.
6.Assist with the facilitation and/or coordination of contacts between the technical services veterinarian and student organizations such as SCAVMA, AAHA, ect.
7.Upon successful completion of term, will make recommendations to PKB for a successor. This must be a 2nd or 3rd year student. At least two recommendations must be given.
QUALIFICATIONS The position requires a one semester commitment from a second or third year veterinary student in good standing that adheres to the following criteria:
1.Primarily interested in companion animal dermatology 2.Able and willing to perform all duties listed under principal activities/objectives
The selection of the student representative will involve the submittal of a current resume, an interview of qualified applicants, and approval by the PKB Veterinarian and appropriate University representative.
TRAINING The purpose of training is to provide a sound working knowledge of the PKB products, review of expectations of the student representative role and establish a positive report between the student representative and the company. Training will be arranged at a mutually beneficial time and will consist of a one-on-one session conducted via the internet and phone. The training will be provided by a PKB employee and may include the participation of the PKB Sales Manager. Supporting materials will be provided to the student representative, as needed.
COMPENSATION Upon performance of the principal activities/objectives listed, the PKB Student Representative will be compensated $500 for the semester. Compensation will be one payment in the Fall or Spring semester of the school year. If the Student Representative is unable to fulfill their commitment, the incumbent is required to give the Social Media Coordinator advance notice of at least 30 days. If possible, the student representative will remain in the position until a suitable successor can be chosen. Student Representatives unable to fulfill and/or perform the above described job description and expectations may have compensation withheld at the discretion of the PKB Representative.
