The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin, a progressive and growing shelter, is seeking a full-time shelter veterinarian. We are a private non-profit shelter with municipal contracts and an annual intake of ~3000 animals with less than 10% euthanasia. On staff are two full-time CVTs with 5+ years of experience in shelter medicine along with both full-time and part-time veterinary assistants. The veterinarian will split time both in the shelter clinic attending to the shelter and foster animals and in the spay/neuter clinic. They will also provide guidance to the other departments on proper disease prevention and animal care. All the medical and surgical treatments of the shelter animals are at the full discretion of the shelter veterinarians within the department budget/means. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a desire to teach, and a passion to use veterinary medicine to save more lives. New graduates and experienced veterinarians encouraged to apply. Shelter medicine experience desired but not required.

Graduate of an accredited school of veterinary medicine or equivalent.
Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Wisconsin or the ability to obtain in a timely manner.
Enthusiasm for Shelter Veterinary Medicine is strongly desired.
Ability to conduct high quality surgical sterilizations in a fast-paced environment.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Federal Accreditation Required or the ability to obtain in a timely manner.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain DEA license
Acquire and possess a thorough understanding of and dedication to the philosophies of animal welfare.
