Reports to: Vice President of Business Development
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Medical Business Development Manager (“Medical BDM”) is a key member of Midwest Veterinary Partners growth and new partnership team. The Medical BDM will support the identification, analysis, relationship building, and key terms negotiation of new partnership opportunities. A successful Medical BDM candidate will be charged with building relationships with veterinarians looking to sell or transition their practice, positively displaying the key differentiating factors MVP has over the competition, and taking an active role in the analysis and negotiation of the partnership. The Medical BDM will work closely with the VP of Business Development, the CEO, and the executive leadership, to engage and attract new partnerships to the MVP team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a DVM to expand and grow into a non-medical position with a growing network of hospitals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.
New Partner Identification
Identify, source, build relationship, and manage potential veterinary add-on opportunities in identified strategic geographies
Utilize existing DVM network, industry contacts, and MVP’s existing inside sales team to identify and introduce MVP to top hospitals
Emphasis on identifying high-quality medicine opportunities
A willingness to travel and engage hospital owners in succession plan discussions
Relationship Building and Deal Term Negotiation
Engages top hospitals from introductory meeting through key terms negotiation
Manage a robust pipeline of prospects from initial introduction through letter of intent negotiation and signing non-binding offer to join MVP
Convey MVP mission, vision, and values to prospective partners, and convert them to actionable partnership opportunities
Assist in the preparation of term sheets describing the Company’s proposed financial and structural terms for acquiring potential add-on targets

D.V.M. OR V.M.D. from an AVMA accredited institution and a license to practice veterinary medicine
Entrepreneurial spirit and business experience to engage in a new aspect of veterinary medicine
Strong written and oral presentation skills; ability to present concisely and with detail
Experience in, or ability to learn, effectively communicating financial and legal terms
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills; must be able to manage and prioritize multiple business objectives and projects with the proper sense of urgency
Ability to learn pipeline management software (Salesforce)
Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
Ability to work in autonomous, fast moving environment
The work environment will be travel based. The Medical BDM will be responsible for a specific territory and must have the ability to travel on a regular basis to meet new potential partners.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
