The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 representing over 93,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services, is seeking an LMS Administrator to join our Convention and Meeting PlanningTeam located in our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago. AVMA’s mission is to lead the profession by advocating for our members and advancing the science and practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal and human health.
Reporting to the Continuing Education Manager, this newly created position will provide technical leadership in support of AVMA’s learning management system for members - Axon. The LMS Administrator is responsible for the support, design, development, implementation, delivery, and maintenance of content, assets, and other resources used for instructional functions. They are the primary system administrator for Axon and will oversee the installation of all system updates and upgrades, as well as tools and software integrated with the LMS. They will play a key role in the successful implementation of AVMA lifelong learning activities for members to deliver relevant and unique member value, increasing member engagement and satisfaction. Up to 10% travel.

BS/BA in a related field; coursework and/or certifications relating to learning management system administration preferred
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an LMS administrator or in similar position, not-for-profit association experience a plus
Technical skills including troubleshooting, and understanding of directory, file structures, and systems
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
Ability to collaborate with others at all levels of the organization as well as vendors
Ability to gain new technical skills quickly
Excellent customer service skills, responsive attitude
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex technical concepts in non-technical terms
Social media or knowledge management experience preferred
Familiarity with course design and development
Familiarity with e-learning software and best practices (i.e. Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, etc.)
Working knowledge of multiple web design technologies, such as HTML
Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail; with excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills
Must be able to work independently with limited instruction and exercise judgment within defined parameters
