"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle." -Steve Jobs
Do you remember what first inspired you to become a veterinarian?
Most of us in this field knew from a very early age what we wanted to do with our lives. For some of us that inspiration hit while bringing our childhood pet to our hometown veterinarian. That hometown vet always had a smile on his face and knew you by name. She never made you feel rushed and would gladly get down on the floor for puppy kisses. He saw your pup through 15 good years; from that very first 8 week visit right up to the end.
If this is how you envisioned veterinary medicine, look no further. Abbey Animal Hospital is that hometown clinic, and we need YOU.
Abbey Animal Hospital is a small, two doctor, privately owned and operated clinic in Nottingham, Maryland. We stay true to the mission and values that have helped us not just succeed, but thrive, since the clinic opened in 1981. We may be small in size, but we have big personality, and we are very proud of our culture. At Abbey, both clients and employees are a part of our family. Our quaint building was remodeled from a 1930's cape cod style home, and it feels just that; like home. About Abbey Animal Hospital
Abbey Animal Hospital was founded in 1981 by Dr Jim Orrell. He founded the practice with the hometown feel in mind, and decades later we continue on this premise. The practice was purchased in 2016 by Dr John Kluttz, and subsequently updated to an LLC. We are still a small two doctor hospital, which allows us to practice the individualized care our clients have come to expect. Even with consistent growth of the business, we pride ourselves on our ability to give each and every client and pet the time and attention they require. All doctor appointments are scheduled for a minimum of 30 minutes. At Abbey, we rely on the strength of our team. We have a great staff of paraprofessionals, and we schedule 2 technicians/assistants per doctor. Technician’s and assistant's skills are utilized and developed. Front desk staff, assistants, and technicians are all cross trained to provide a support system that allows our doctors to focus on patient care. Abbey Animal Hospital is not just a workplace; it’s a team that feels like family. From the connections we make with clients in the room and over the “barn style” half open doors, to the pride we take in supporting each other, Abbey is not your typical animal clinic!
