Postdoctoral Position in Equine Community Practice Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Purdue University A 4-5 month postdoctoral position will be available for February through May/June 2020. Clinical assignment will be approximately 80-90%. Primary emergency call is shared with other Equine Community Practice faculty. Teaching responsibilities include clinical, didactic and laboratory instruction of DVM students, veterinary technician students, and house officers. Equine Community Practice (ECP) is made up of two ACVS-LA diplomates and one ABVP (equine) diplomate, 1 full time veterinary technician, and 2 shared veterinary technicians. Two fully equipped ambulatory trucks are utilized for field service calls. Ultrasound, portable digital radiography, endoscopy, and motorized dental equipment are utilized on a regular basis. ECP sees approximately 3,000 visits annually, and provides routine primary care (60%), lameness (20%), reproductive services (5%), medicine (10%), and minor surgery (5%). The Large Animal Hospital allows access to specialists in multiple disciplines for case consultation or referral. The clientele is a large variety of breed and discipline of horses including trail riding, pleasure, eventing, dressage, western pleasure, western performance, and hunter/jumper horses. A DVM or equivalent degree is required. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. A background check is required for employment by the University.
