EMERGENCY CLINICIANS needed in beautiful Southern New England
Ocean State Veterinary Specialists
Ocean State Veterinary Specialists is looking for internship-trained or experienced emergency clinicians to join our amazing staff. OSVS is one of the few privately owned, large 24 hour emergency and specialty referral centers in the country. The 26,000 sf facility is located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, and includes dedicated emergency and specialty areas. We offer referral and emergency services to the RI, eastern CT, and southern MA areas. There is no general practice associated with the hospital. Equipment includes digital radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, laparoscopy, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, fluoroscopy, and state-of-the-art monitoring equipment. The staff includes specialists in internal medicine, surgery, radiology, emergency/critical care, cardiology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, clinical pathology, and avian/exotics, as well as a large group of experienced emergency clinicians. The hospital places a premium on continuing education. Daily case rounds ensure excellence in case management through collaborative discussion and provide an opportunity for continuous learning. There is in-house education for staff doctors, technicians, and referring veterinarians. There is a highly respected internship as well as emergency/critical care and surgical residencies, which helps to promote a didactic atmosphere and gives the emergency clinicians and specialists ample opportunity for teaching. The support staff is highly trained and enthusiastic about continuing education as well. The technicians working in the intensive care unit are capable of managing most nursing cases, including those on mechanical ventilation, peritoneal dialysis, continuous thoracic drainage, etc. This position offers emergency clinicians a unique opportunity to work in a well-equipped, state-of-the-art facility, side-by-side with a large group of specialists. The emergency doctors do not just work evenings and weekends, they work weekday inpatient shifts as well, giving them the opportunity to manage critical care patients and benefit from the referral hospital environment. The desire to continue learning and to participate in the teaching of interns and student externs is very important, and a good sense of humor is essential! The opportunity to split time between the RI hospital and our satellite facility in Massachusetts is also available. The clinics are only 20 minutes apart. The environment at OSVS is very supportive. Inpatient shifts start with sit-down rounds, where we discuss all of the patients on the emergency service. ER clinicians who have been with us for 10 years tell us that they still learn every day that they work here. OSVS is privately owned, and our philosophy has always been that if we practice good medicine, and treat our people and our clients well, we will be profitable. We keep our fees as reasonable as we can, which helps to limit financial euthanasias and allows our staff to feel good about what they do. Despite having grown to a staff of over 50 doctors, the hospital still has a family feel, and our people know that we care about them. This is a tremendous environment to continue learning and growing. Compensation is a base salary plus production, and benefits include health insurance, 401K, CE, and all licenses and professional memberships required to practice here. Relocation and signing bonus available. OSVS has the resources and staff of a University teaching hospital, with the family environment of a small practice. Come meet your new work family and learn why so many doctors join us and never leave! To learn more, please contact Justine Johnson DVM, DACVECC at jjohnson@osvs.net or visit our website at www.osvs.net.
