Surgery Floater Technician

Salary Range: $25.49 - $38.56/hour.  Starting salary is between $25.49 - $29.71/hour.

Under the direction of the Surgery/Anesthesia/Neurology Service Manager and the Service Chief's, will provided specialized technical support to the  Surgery, Anesthesia and Neurology services This position will float as needed to various departments depending on service needs.  Independent of direct supervision, will provide emergency anesthesia support to the various services when the Anesthesia Service is unable to cover add-on cases.   Also, will train students and residents in various technical procedures. Maintain specialized equipment and perform a variety of laboratory tests.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
• Strong background in a variety of technical procedures performed in various services. Experience communicating orally and in writing with a diverse group of people.
• Experience in prioritizing and organizing workload without direct supervision.
• Experience placing and maintaining various types of catheters.
• Experience in aseptic technique and circulation in an O.R.
• Experience collecting and interpreting physiological and laboratory data.
• Experience inducing and monitoring anesthesia in critically ill patients.

Preferred: 

• Experience in the use of various specialized surgical and diagnostic equipment.
• Experience to recognize normal and abnormal parameters for patients and how to respond accordingly.
• Experience performing paraveterinary duties per clinician's orders.
