Juneau Animal Rescue (JAR) is unlike many animal shelters. We are a private, non-profit, low-volume, open admission animal shelter located in Juneau, Alaska. We are contracted to provide animal control and protection services to the City and Borough of Juneau. Additionally, we provide dog boarding, doggy daycare, and grooming services to the community. We adopt out approximately 450 animals each year and employ about 20 full-time staff, including four Animal Control Officers.
JAR is committed to evidence-based practices, community service and engagement and the welfare of pets in our community. Our Mission is “To serve our community by promoting animal welfare and strengthening the animal-human bond. To improve the lives of pets through education and protection. To shelter stray, abandoned, and surrendered pets and find them loving homes.” This statement reflects our values and devotion to maintain the highest professional and personal standards in all of our work.
Healthcare benefits available after 60 days and retirement benefits available after one year for employees working at least 1000 hours per year.
