About Department of Health Veterinary Clinic
The Department of Health Veterinary Services is the only animal hospital located in the U.S Territory of American Samoa, a tropical escape halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand in the heart of Polynesia. Our clinic is currently undergoing renovations, which is a huge leap for us and a great opportunity to operate better and efficiently. The Veterinary Service is a government owned practice that has been serving the public community for years by providing some of the services such as daily health checkups, administering vaccinations, performing examinations and dispensing medications. Perhaps, the clinic has been operating without a veterinarian for the past 3 years. Continuing to operate without a U.S licensed veterinarian places our community's health at risk and our farming community at a disadvantage. Our team of 6 very committed and compassionate veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants has deep experience in maintaining the practice and well-connected relationships with our clients. Our main goal is to hire a U.S licensed veterinarian, who will be able to help us push forward the growth of the practice, find long-term solutions to the stray dog and cat population here..., and perform a high volume of spay and neuter clinics to help reduce unwanted overpopulation in the territory. Other basic veterinarian services that our clinic is committed to provide includes the following, but is not limited to: performing emergency exams/surgeries and testing. Aside from all the hard work performed at the clinic, you will certainly enjoy time diving, snorkeling and hiking an untamed landscape of rainforest, beaches and protected coral reefs swarming with wildlife. Some of the beaches will sweep you away as you'll get a glimpse of land and sea creatures galore, from fruit bats, geckos, to dolphins, humpback whale and sea turtles.
