Welcome to Animal Emergency and Specialty Center (AESC)! We are a 24/7 emergency care veterinary hospital that provides care 365 days a year. We offer intensive, compassionate medical alternatives for your pet’s most advanced healthcare needs. Our AESC physician team is comprised of board-certified or residency trained specialists across a variety of medical disciplines. We work closely with you and your family veterinarian to offer targeted treatment options that go beyond the scope of routine medical care. Diagnostic imaging options are available on site and include X-ray, MRI, CT and ultrasound to help reach a definitive diagnosis.

Overall Responsibility: Emergency Techs must be outgoing and independent, making use of ALL available time. Emergency Techs must have the ability to perform and react in a wide variety of daily situations as well as work with every department in the hospital. They must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to stay cool under pressure. Critical Care Technicians provide a link between clients, client services, doctors, and technicians. They must be able to react in ANY situation in a professional and efficient manner.
Our ER operates 365, 24/7. Emergency Technicians are vital to our hospital as a whole, and especially the patients and their pet parents who come to us during a hard time for care.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Triage ER cases as they come in.
- Assist our ER doctors with exams, treatments and procedures.
- Immediately respond to STAT situations, and be ready to oversee the care of the patient depending on the outcome of the STAT call.
- Preform all types of restraint, venipuncture for all types of blood work. Administer SQ fluids, medications, ect per doctors orders.
- Work in conjunction with all departments across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the specialty department regarding status of care.
- Prepare the whiteboard in Cornerstone for upcoming treatments and continued care.
- Recognize subtle change in clinical status.
- Go over discharge instructions with clients when they are able to bring their furry family member back home with them.
- Basic grooming as needed.
- Complete estimates, basic record keeping.
- Other duties as needed.
Educational Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. At least 1 year of technician experience required. Certification preferred.
Skill Requirements: Strong ability to multitask and anticipate needs. Excellent communication with staff, and between staff and upper management. Good attendance. Handles stress well and keeps a positive attitude. Excels at conflict resolution and superb at problem solving.
Physical Requirements: This job is physically active and requires frequent bending. It also requires routine lifting and restraining of animals in excess of 50 pounds.
