Located in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country, our five-veterinarian privately-owned practice is looking to hire a full-time associate veterinarian.
Kerrville is a thriving and close-knit town with excellent schools and low crime. It is the gateway to the best of Texas’ natural landscapes, outdoor recreation, and state parks. The clinic is centrally located near the banks of the Guadalupe river, and is within a short drive of Austin, San Marcos, and San Antonio.
We are willing to hire recent graduates, and have a robust mentorship program with patient and knowledgable veterinary teachers. Our practice cares about serving the whole community, regardless of socioeconomic status, and we have a clientele that allows us to practice quality medicine. We build long-term relationships with clients,and give individualized compassionate care to our patients. We are a primarily small animal practice, with about 5% large animal/exotics..
We have a supportive and positive team that operates by cooperative medicine: working together to diagnose, solve problems, and accommodating each other’s schedule. Our well-staffed clinic has excellent dedicated veterinary, lab, and surgical technicians, and we have state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and excellent relationships with traveling and referral specialists.
Responsibilities:
- Internal medicine: diagnosing and treating variety of medical conditions
- Preventative care: diet, medications, vaccinations
- Surgery: emergency care, fertility, dentals
- Work hours:
• 45hr/week average
• 4 days/week + 1 morning
• 1 Saturday morning/month
• after-hours emergency medicine: 1 night on-call/week, 1 weekend on-call every 8 weeks
Necessary Skills:
- someone who works well in a fast-paced environment
- personable and able to explain medical jargon in lay-terms
- compassionate towards both clients and patients
- basic knowledge in all areas of veterinary medicine
- willing and eager to learn more complex facets of veterinary medicine
- motivated to solve diagnostic problems using both research and teamwork
Preferred Skills:
- surgical experience
- interest in large animal medicine (preferred but not mandatory)
