Animal Humane New Mexico’s Donor-subsidized Veterinary Clinic is seeking a mission driven Clinic/Shelter Veterinarian to join our caring and compassionate team. We exclusively serve income-qualifying clients at reduced prices and provide shelter medicine to homeless dogs and cats through high quality medicine. We offer appointment-based primary & preventative care including spay/neuter and advanced surgical services for both client owned & shelter pets.
We offer a positive working environment with promotion of supportive work/life balance through generous paid time off and predictable schedule. We work Monday –Thursday and are closed Friday – Sunday. The last appointments are scheduled at 4:30 pm as the lobby closes at 5pm to clients. No emergency or walk-in services, no after hours.
This is a salary-based position, alleviating stress and allowing focus on the shelter pets as well as our low-income clients their pets. As a part of a non-profit organization (we are not a municipal shelter) we are able to provide unique help for those who have very limited choices, and we strive to positively impact the community. Our collegial environment encourages for professional growth in shelter medicine, HQHV spay/neuter, and advanced surgical procedures. We offer full dentistry, soft tissue and several orthopedic procedures. Those with an interest in expanding their time in the surgery suite will enjoy it here. There are lots of opportunities to improve in this area.

We have cloud-based software and integration with Idexx VetLab. Idexx In-House laboratory and urinalysis available. Digital radiographs, digital dental radiographs, and basic ultrasound unit.
DVM from an accredited veterinary school
New Mexico State Veterinary License (or eligible)
Excellent communication skills with both staff and clients
Strong desire to work in shelter medicine
