The Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University, invites applications for a tenure or clinical track faculty position in the Section of Behavior. This position will be one of two full-time faculty being recruited for the college’s new Duffield Institute for Animal Behavior. These two faculty positions, as well as resident, staff, and research support are endowed by a $12.1M grant from the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation, ensuring that the institute will be a world leader in advancing the discipline of animal behavior. We are seeking individuals who share that passion and have the vision, drive, and ability to develop a world-class program. This clinically-focused position will also be expected to contribute to the teaching and outreach mission of the institute, as well as help advance the discipline and animal health through impactful translational and clinical research.

Candidates with a small animal focus can develop consultation arrangements and collaborative research opportunities with the college-owned and affiliated small animal specialty practice in Stamford, Connecticut.
Candidates must have a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Preference will be given to those with board certification in the American College of Veterinary Behavior or the European College of Veterinary Behavior; however, candidates who have completed or who will be completing an approved residency within a year will be considered, if prior research experience is demonstrated. Clinical teaching and service in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, lecture and laboratory instruction of veterinary students and house officers, and the establishment of an independent research program are expected. Distribution of effort in the Section and Department will be determined in accordance with the position (clinical track or tenure track), service needs, academic priorities, and the candidate’s expertise and academic goals in behavior. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others in the institute, hospital, college, and university.
