Agwest Veterinary Group is looking for experienced dairy veterinarians to join our practice in the beautiful Fraser Valley and Cowichan Valley, British Columbia. Agwest is a vibrant, growing veterinary practice that strives to put our clients first and tailor our services to their needs.
We are looking for someone with a forward-thinking attitude focused on teamwork, client support, and passion for the dairy industry. Agwest encourages our team members to continually grow professionally and to develop their areas of interest. Our practice currently offers ET, IVF, Barn, and Ventilation consulting, Milking Parlour evaluation, business consulting, and employee training on top of our progressive approach to herd health management. We also have an expanding animal technician service to complement our veterinary care.
This position entails providing both routine and emergency primary veterinary care to a variety of large animal patient species on both an individual animal and herd level. Progressive and preventative veterinary consultative services, supervision of support staff, mentoring students, and superior customer service are also key roles of an Agwest Veterinarian.
The Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island are some of the most beautiful places in North America you can practice dairy medicine. We are nestled in a temperate rainforest surrounded by snow-capped mountains, leading to endless recreation activities. The cities of Vancouver (1hr) and Seattle (2.5hrs) are within driving distance for those wanting the amenities of a big metropolis.
Responsibilities
Disease prevention and examination
Diagnose disease, treatment, and surgical procedures in animals
Pregnancy examinations (ultrasound and palpation)
Implementing reproduction programs and protocols
Semen evaluation and freezing
Fertility and reproductive efficiency evaluation
Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication or performing surgeries
Perform routine, emergency, and post-mortem examinations
Vaccination programs
Provide obstetrical services
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
University degree in veterinary medicine (2-to-4-year pre-veterinary university studies and 4-year university degree in veterinary medicine)
Certificate of Qualification from the National Examining Board (NEB) of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association
Provincial licensing (General Veterinary Practitioner) with the BC Veterinary Medical Association
Experience working in cattle production
Skills: good communication, organization, and work skills, motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, physically fit, computer literate
