A third surgeon is required to join our team at Troytown EquineHospital, Country Kildare, Ireland. Permanent and short-term contract opportunities are available.
The practice, comprising an ambulatory division and referral hospital, is situated in Kildare town, at the heart of Irish thoroughbred racing and breeding industry. Kildare has excellent transport links to Dublin and the rest of Ireland. Dublin International airport is only 50km away.
Thoroughbred breeding mares and young stock comprise the largest proportion of the hospital work, but we also have substantial racehorse in training and sports horse caseloads. Horses travel from all over the island of Ireland and abroad to attend Troytown and our patients include Group 1 winners and Olympic competitors.
The hospital is equipped to provide gold-standard care. Facilities include: scintigraphy; radiography; ultrasonography; Hallmarq MRI and CT units; flexible and rigid endoscopy; overground endoscopy; and treadmill; telemetric ECG; therapeutic and diode lasers; shockwave; surgical facilities for arthroscopy, laparoscopy and internal fixation; equipment for advanced dental work including a minimally invasive transbuccal extraction kit and high speed dental burrs necessary for restorative work such as pulp and infundibular capping. We have stabling for over 40 horses. Planning permission has been secured for a new hospital and onsite accommodation block.
Our existing team includes board-certified specialists in equine surgery (DACVS-LA), sports medicine (DACVSMR), and equine internal medicine (DECEIM), and holders of postgraduatequalifications in anaesthesia, equine practice, equine surgery, diagnostic imaging, equine medicine and equinereproduction.
