Erie Animal Hospital is a privately owned 3 doctor practice in Erie, PA.  Since we are privately owned, partnership opportunity exists.  We are an exclusively small animal practice that is cat friendly and declaw free.  We are seeking another full time associate veterinarian, and welcome new graduates.  Our practice follows the AAHA mentorship guidelines for recent graduates from veterinary school.  Erie Animal Hospital has been in business since 1952 and has a well-established client base, and often spans several generations.  We retain a strong core of dedicated and experienced veterinary technicians and assistants, some with 15-20+ years of experience.  The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 7 pm as well as Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm.  No on-call hours are required.

Our equipment includes: a GE ultrasound machine with color flow Doppler, digital radiography, iM3 complete dental unit with high speed drill, digital dental radiography, VetTome dental unit, Cardell anesthesia monitors in the dental and surgery suites, Lifepak unit, Tonopen, cryosurgery pen, oxygen generator, full in-house Idexx laboratory equipment, and Cornerstone operating equipment.  Our Doctors foster a collaborative environment regarding patients and discuss challenging cases several times daily.  Any professional interests would be encouraged, such as exotics, orthopedics, laser therapy, acupunture, physical therapy, etc.

Managing 20 minute appointments in a timely fashion.  Working up admitted cases as thoroughly as possible within client means.  Educating clients with current knowledge about treatment options, preventative care, behavior, and diet.  Having a strong working knowledge of our products, including preventatives, medications, nutraceuticals, and diets.  Handling surgery days with competence and good time management to complete and average of 4-8 procedures or admits.  Typical procedures include spay, neuter, dental extractions, gastropexy, mass removal, or limb/tail/toe amputation.  Being competent and sympathetic with euthanasias. Attending to files between appointments and at shift end regarding refills, call backs, test results and referrals.  Treating patients with calm demeanor and gentle, fear-free, handling.  Treating clients and coworkers with respect and professionalism.
