Grand Haven Animal Hospital, located in Grand Haven, MI, is a well-established, privately owned, small animal practice that has been serving the community for nearly 4 decades. We are currently a one doctor practice but are actively looking to add another full-time veterinarian.
We primarily see cats and dogs but we are open to extending our services to pocket pets, exotics and/or avians should that be an interest to a potential candidate.
It is our firm belief that it is our job to be the pet's advocate, which means offering the best comprehensive care possible and taking the time to educate our clients so that they may make informed decisions about their pet's healthcare.
To be successful in this position you will need to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients to create individualized health plans for their pet's needs. Routine wellness exams, vaccinations, sick pet exams, digital radiology, dental care, in-house diagnostics and surgery are just some of the many services we offer.
Located in West Michigan, Grand Haven Animal Hospital is located just minutes away from the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. Responsibilities
Examining and assessing patients and diagnosing medical issues
Utilizing laboratory tests for diagnostic purposes
Utilizing digital radiography for diagnostic purposes
Performing surgeries, cleaning and dressing wounds, splinting
Prescribing medications
Drawing blood
Communicating with clients to answer questions and educate them on situations, diagnoses and treatment plans
Promoting preventative care by advocating and administering vaccinations and educating clients on diets and lifestyles choices for their pets
Performing dental exams and grading
Performing dental extractions
Euthanizing patients
Ensuring compliance with veterinary ethics, statutes, policies and procedures.
Maintaining patient medical records
Requirements
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree
Appropriate state licensure
Strong affinity for animals
Ability to make prudent decisions regarding the well-being of animals
Excellent communication skills
Excellent people skills
Ability to manage time, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
