• We are located in Metropolis, Illinois, which is in southern IL, right of I-24. We are ~ 6 hours drive S of Chicago.
• We are a busy, but laid back, small animal exclusive practice with a high standard of care and provide top notch, quality medicine and surgery.

• What you can expect as an extern at River’s Edge
  • Lots of hands-on experience with quality mentorship and direction
    • We excel at internal medicine, dentistry, and soft-tissue surgery
  • Daily rounds (Discussion of case management, diagnostic, and treatment recommendations)
  • Surgical experience based on comfort level and demonstrated ability
  • Learning how to navigate and merge “Gold Standard” University medicine with real-world clients on a budget
• Incentives
  • River’s Edge is happy to offer complimentary housing at a local hotel or Airbnb.
  • We are also happy to offer a $300 stipend for a two week externship and $650 for a 4 week externship
  • We’re also looking for a new doctor to add to our team and students with interest in employment will receive preferred status as well as a generous sign-on bonus
  • River’s Edge is located near Shawnee National Forest with hundreds of miles of trails (including horseback and ATV) and hiking opportunities, as well as 30 minutes from Kentucky Lake and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area with tons of outdoor activities for those who like the outdoors.
  • We are also located 5 minutes from Paducah, Kentucky with a progressive downtown area, shopping mall, theater, and many locally owned restaurants and shops.
