The Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) is seeking a candidate to serve in the position of Executive Director (ED) beginning 10/1/23.
The AAV ED is responsible for maintaining the fiscal stability of the AAV and working strategically, creatively, and collaboratively with the Executive Board, Association Committees, and members to advance the mission of the Association. The ED will communicate and network with allied professional organizations, non-profit organizations, and the public on behalf of the AAV.
An ideal candidate for this position should have excellent organizational skills, effective oral and written communication skills using the latest technology, experience with accounting software, and be able to work in teams with diverse backgrounds and interests. Preferred candidates are veterinarians with administrative skills or Veterinary Medical Association executives or staff directors. Candidates must be able to perform job duties within the US.
Work hours average 25-30 hours per week, 48-50 weeks annually. The Executive Director position is an independent contractor position with compensation ranging from $60-75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
The Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) is a diverse global professional organization dedicated to advancing and promoting avian health, welfare, and conservation through education, advocacy, and science. The AAV membership consists of 2000 veterinarians, students and technicians who are engaged in a multitude of fields related to the health and wellbeing of domestic and wild birds. Those fields include companion bird medicine and surgery, backyard poultry, conservation, wildlife, zoological medicine, regulatory, industry, aviculture and academic practice.
