Ocean State Equine Associates is seeking a full-time ambulatory associate. We are currently a six doctor ambulatory practice, though a surgeon will be joining the team this coming fall. We are aiming to add another associate who is avidly interested in general practice, likes working with a team, and wants to live in the northeast. Internship experience is preferred but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
Ocean State Equine serves a diverse equine population in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Our call radius is approximately 1 hour from the clinic, located in North Scituate, Rhode Island. Primary care and sports medicine are the practice strengths, and serve as the core upon which we plan to grow our surgical referral business. With the completion of a brand-new facility in 2018, all associates are able to provide haul-in services to a well-equipped, climate-controlled environment. Our facility is equipped with two ICU stalls, 10 in-patient stalls, 3 examination areas, and indoor arena, and a eurocizer. The facility also has a spacious operating room and two induction/recovery stalls available for elective surgical procedures.
We enjoy a collegial, professional work environment. Cases are often shared amongst associates, making client communication and teammate collaboration skills essential. Clients are not clients of individual doctors but rather of the practice as a whole, further emphasizing “team”. Ocean State Equine offers an internship program, and all associates are expected to participate in mentoring interns. We all arrive at the clinic each morning to begin the day, and we routinely hold case rounds, journal club, and imaging rounds to foster the team sensibility.
OSEA strives to improve work life balance and career satisfaction for our entire staff. Emergency work is currently shared on a rotating basis amongst 4 associates. Clients communicate through the office, rather than through text/call to any individual doctor. Emergency call is mostly back-up support to intern doctors as needed, once they are comfortable seeing emergencies. Associates routinely have a technician for all appointments during business hours. We are always looking for new ways that we can serve our patients and clients well, and still get out of work at a reasonable hour most of the time. We are looking for a colleague who will roll up their sleeves to dive in and help a teammate, a backyard pony, or the high-level sport horse. Development of special areas of interest is encouraged. Special-focus continuing education opportunities are also supported.
Salary is base-plus and is commensurate with experience and production. Benefits include: health insurance stipend, IRA, long-term disability, dental and vision plans, liability insurance, continuing education stipend/time, cell phone compensation, licensure for RI, MA and CT, DEA licensure, and paid time off. A fully stocked practice vehicle is provided.
Rhode Island offers a bit for everyone! The practice area is mostly suburban-rural. The fabulous coast-line and the terrific city of Providence are within miles of the clinic. Boston, Cape Cod, and New England ski country are within easy striking distance.
Ocean State Equine is a 6-doctor practice serving the diverse clientele of Rhode Island and the surrounding areas. We are fully equipped to provide all general practice services, with particular emphasis on lameness. Focusing on healthy and professional relationships drives us to be better doctors. The goal of having happy, productive employees drives us to be a better business.
