A veterinarian at Scatter Creek Animal Clinic will see a mixture of wellness, general medicine, daytime urgent care (as schedule allows) and surgery. We perform a large variety of soft tissue surgeries in addition to spay/neuter, and candidates who desire it may have an in house surgery training program. We also do a fair amount of dentistry, and candidates who do not feel secure in advanced extractions will be trained in house as well as sent to a multi-day dental wet lab training event. We see clients only at this time, and when we are at capacity we will refer to a number of 24 hour care facilities within an hour of our location. Lunch time is at least one hour, with an additional hour for extra cases or catch-up on administrative work. Open hours are 9-5:30 M-F; 99% of the time the entire team is out before 6pm. We are amenable to creating evening hours, partial days, 4/10 schedule, etc. as it suits the needs of the candidate.
You will thrive as a veterinarian at Scatter Creek if you enjoy working as part of a team, appreciate the lifelong relationships that form with clients and patients, have a “here to get it right, not to be right” view of life and medicine, and value your time and interests outside of work. Our ideal candidate is interested in learning leadership skills, wants to be a part of growing our practice into a learning and training center for students and new grads, and likes to have fun at work while having a positive and significant impact on the clientele and their pets.
DVM degree, references (professors or externships ok for new grads!), licensed in good standing in WA state or willing to get licensed (we will cover costs if license is needed)
We are Scatter Creek Animal Clinic, an independently owned and operated companion animal clinic that has been serving Rochester, WA and surrounding areas for over 40 years. We have a very experienced support team, and very little turnover in team members. Our clients take excellent care of their pets and express their appreciation to the team with frequent goodies, gifts, lunches and other tokens of thanks. If you are motivated and engaged by the ongoing relationship with pet owners and your patients, and enjoy being a part of the care team from puppy hood to senior status, then you will love working at Scatter Creek. Many of our clients have been bringing their pets here for decades and over many generations. The basics: digital general and dental radiography, cloud based electronic records/PIMS system, three licensed RVTs, safe and plentiful parking (we own our 5 acre property), in house labs, cold laser. Location: our location has it all! Views of Mt Ranier when the sun is shining, one minute from I-5, then 90 miles to Portland or Seattle, depending on which direction you go (SEA-TAC is about 75 min drive, PDX about 90), a quick 20 minutes to Costco, Fred Myer, etc, and 30 minut...es from Olympia, WA, which is a decent sized city with Target, Trader Joe’s, REI, and a large, year-round indoor farmer’s market, among other amenities. Ten minutes south of us is Centralia, WA, a historic town with an Amtrak railroad stop, a great small business shopping district, a McMenamins’s restaurant and hotel, and excellent local dining. Being outside the main cities, cost of living here is still doable, yet you have easy access to cities and airports. Under two hours drive will take you to the beach, Mt. Rainier National Park, countless hiking, kayaking, paddling, fishing, and camping opportunities, snow sports, and more. Local hiking is also plentiful, with Capital Forest literally in our back yard. The practice is located 2 miles from a large prairie preserve with miles of trails for off-leash dog walking.
