Our multidisciplinary hospital was created in 2012 by partners of Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston and local partners Tige Witsberger (Surgeon) and Jocelyn Cooper (Neurologist/Neurosurgeon) to provide family veterinarians, clients, and patients in the San Antonio area with high-level patient care, unparalleled communication, and community outreach. Specialty services offered at MissionVet include internal medicine, general surgery, and orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery, and oncology.
The 7th largest city in the United States and the 2nd largest city in the state of Texas, San Antonio is a city of culture and pride that has recently been awarded the following accolades:
Ranked No. 1 on Travel + Leisure’s “America’s Friendliest Cities 2016” list

Labeled “The Best City in Texas” by Forbes in its October 2016 online edition
At MissionVet we strive to function as a cohesive team, providing mentorship, continuing education and consultations within the hospital in order to work through even the toughest cases. The emergency service is directly supported by all specialty services and specialists are on call for after-hours emergencies. Love surgery? Emergency clinicians also have the opportunity to perform emergency surgeries.
Cutting edge techniques such as minimally invasive surgery and advanced diagnostics such as CT, MRI, endoscopy, and fluoroscopy help us ensure that we are giving our patients the best chances for a positive outcome. We take pride in not only delivering world-class medicine but also taking time to educate clients about their pet’s condition to ensure that they are making informed decisions about their loved one's health. We know that dealing with pet health issues can be difficult and stressful, so our warm hospital atmosphere and friendly staff will make clients feel as comfortable as possible during their visit.
If you would like to be a part of a leading-edge practice that supports your talent and the importance of a work/life balance, know that at MissionVet, we can offer you that and much more!
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary and benefits, including health insurance, CE allowance, and 401k employer matching. NVA Overview:NVA is a growing community of general practice clinics, emergency hospitals, equine practices, specialty hospitals, and pet resorts across five countries. Our doctors and pet care teams share best practices, medical knowledge, innovation, and insights. This collaborative approach allows each individual practice and pet resort to do what they do best: service their local community with compassionate, best-in-class care and medicine, to enhance the lives of the animals they love while backed by the support, stability, and leadership of NVA.
Compassion-First and NVA recognize that we share deep-rooted values and priorities. For years, our dedication to Specialty and Emergency medicine has been a common background.
Our groups have long shared the belief that the best patient care comes from championing hospitals in their local communities and supporting the practices and culture that have made them successful. We believe in empowering veterinarians and their teams with deeper resources so they can do more of what’s already working.
Combining our strengths gives us the opportunity to make a lasting and positive impact on the profession, our people, and the care of animals.
As one of the only dedicated Specialty and Emergency groups in the industry, NVA Compassion-First is the trusted partner of hospital teams who are looking for more—more resources to advance their medicine, a greater sense of belonging, and increased opportunities to care for their patients, clients and people.
