The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is seeking a full-time Veterinarian to join our team. We are a well-respected 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a veterinary clinic, animal rescue and thrift store servicing the needs of our community.
We offer veterinarians a purpose-driven practice saving lives and making a difference in our community, one animal at a time.
We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate individuals that practice excellent medicine, surgical, communication, and customer service skills to become a part of the SPCA family.
The SPCA Albrecht Center's Veterinary Care Center is a full-service clinic providing medical care to shelter pets, as well as being open to the public. We are a Humane Alliance certified high quality, high volume spay/neuter clinic operating inside a limited admission, non-profit animal shelter with an intake of approximately 1,300 shelter pets per year. Our facility is fully equipped with a full-service lab, digital x-ray, ultrasound, and dental equipment.
Location: Aiken, SC is bustling with life and activities, yet still maintains its Southern charm with is tree-lined streets, lush gardens, equestrian influence and restored Winter Colony homes. Aiken is a true southern gem, combining a warm, friendly, southern atmosphere with a sophistication and charm. Aiken was just voted a Top 10 Best Small Town according to Southern Living Magazine. Aiken was also voted a Top 10 Best Place for Pet Lovers. Aiken is known for its cultural opportunities, such as the Performing Arts center, symphony, outdoor concerts, and its outdoor activities such as golf, tennis, marathons, hunting, parks, the Augusta area Riverwalk on the Savannah River, and 2,200 acre Hitchcock Woods adjacent to downtown historic Aiken.
Aiken is centrally located offering many options for day trips and exploring. Surrounding larger cities within a short drive are Atlanta, Ga, Charlotte, NC, the state capitol Columbia, SC, the beaches of Hilton Head, SC or historic Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA.
Job Requirements:
- Manage veterinary care for all shelter animals.
- Provide appropriate chart maintenance for all cases.
- Supervise handling and recording of controlled substances by veterinary technicians.
- Actively promote spay/neuter and adoption and educate clients on responsible pet ownership.
- Represent the organization in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
- Provide emergency advice and possible care for shelter animals after hours on a rotating basis.
- Mentoring and supervision of veterinary team, including externship students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 40-hour work weeks. Flexible work schedule and/or rotating weekends off can be considered. On-call hours on a rotating basis.
Qualifications: DVM licensure or equivalent for SC.
Compensation & other benefits: Full time Salary: $110,000 - $150,000 with bonuses. Salary based upon experience. Signing bonus and moving expenses offered. An advantage of working for a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is that you may qualify for student loan forgiveness. Additional benefits include pretax health insurance allowance, annual CE allowance, all licenses and most dues are paid, employee discount and paid time off.
