The Carlyle Animal Hospital is expanding! We are a small animal exclusive general practice located in rural southern Illinois (Carlyle) that currently employs 3 full time veterinarians. We are looking to add 1-2 full time equivalent veterinarians to join us as we remodel and expand our services. If you enjoy spending time in nature, there are state and federal parks nearby including Illinois’ largest manmade lake, which provide access to a variety of recreational opportunities! If the city is more your style, St. Louis is about an hour’s drive away. If you’d rather hang out at home, there is fiberoptic internet available in our area! If you’d prefer to vacation elsewhere, there are 3 highways and several airports that are easily accessed.
If you’d like to answer after hours call, you’re welcome to do so; however, we generally refer emergencies to a 24 hour facility 40 minutes away. Veterinarians are paid on pro-sal (22%) with no negative accrual and a guaranteed base. Starting base salary is dependent on experience and desired schedule (full vs. part-time, desired time off, etc). A new graduate can expect to start at $100,000 and experienced veterinarians up to $125,000 to start with 2 weeks PTO and 3 days off for CE during year 1 and up to 6 weeks (dependent on desired base salary) after that. Current scheduling for a full time DVM is 4 days per week 730 or 8 to 530 depending on schedule, with a 2 hour break mid-day to use as you would like. We currently rotate surgery, appointment and drop-off scheduling. Our 2023/24 remodel includes an expanded surgery suite, treatment area and a new dental suite which will provide opportunities for further flexibility in scheduling. Like surgery? You can do it several times per week! Prefer dentistry? Go right ahead! Want to see just cats? We can make that happen! Want mentorship? Let’s talk! Desire a flexible schedule? We can do that!
CE is important to us, and each DVM is encouraged to attend at least one major conference each CE cycle.
The ideal candidate will be someone who is self-motivated, excited to research and work-up cases, able to delegate as well as multi-task, has advanced communication skills, has an interest in working together to continue to improve the care we offer our patients, and is looking for a fresh start.
We have ultrasound capabilities, digital radiography, a full in-clinic Idexx lab, 5 exam rooms (expanding to 6), multiple anesthesia machines, dental radiography, and more! One of our veterinarians currently performs TPLOs, and we routinely have opportunities to perform other advanced surgeries, procedures and treatments.
While we do not currently have any certified technicians, we have several that have finished school and most others are fully trained so that doctors can focus on doctoring and not on catheter placement, etc. We generally have 3 technicians/assistants per doctor each day.
If you’re looking for a move/ return or a fresh start in rural Illinois, give us a call or plan to stop by and see what we’re about! Working interviews or a video tour are available if you would like to see how we operate.
Please feel free to contact us at the email below or by calling the office at 618-594-4515. Conversations by text are also possible if you prefer (please reach out by one of the above methods first). We look forward to growing with you!
