Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian to join our team as a Spectrum of Care Community//Shelter Veterinarian. This unique role will involve providing high-quality veterinary care to shelter animals while also participating in mentorship programs to develop your skills in the Spectrum of Care approach.
Responsibilities:
Shelter Care:
Provide routine medical care, including vaccinations, deworming, and preventative treatments, to shelter animals.
Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries.
Perform spay and neuter surgeries.
Oversee the overall health and welfare of the shelter population.
Mentorship:
Participate in on-site mentorship programs with experienced veterinarians to learn advanced techniques and best practices in shelter medicine.
Participate in off-site mentorship at a local general practice to gain exposure to a broader range of veterinary cases and develop skills in client communication and practice management.
Community Outreach:
Represent the organization at community events and educational programs.
Collaborate with local animal welfare organizations to promote responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter initiatives.
Qualifications:
DVM degree from an accredited veterinary school, graduated within the past 3 years.
Active veterinary licenses in the states of West Virginia and Ohio.
Experience in shelter medicine or a strong interest in animal welfare.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for providing compassionate care to animals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with spay and neuter surgeries.
Knowledge of Spectrum of Care principles and practices.
Experience with community outreach and education.
