About Connecticut Feline Medicine and Surgery, LLC
Our full-service modern paperless practice offers opportunities to work in all areas of feline medicine—from behavior and wellness care to complex internal medicine, dentistry, and surgery. We incorporate nutrition, Eastern and Western medicine into a practice of balanced care. Practice owner Letrisa Miller, a former AAFP board member, past president of the International Association of Cat Doctors, and finalist for America’s Favorite Veterinarian, is happy to mentor recent graduates or established veterinarians looking to transition to a more focused practice.
We are focused on the full well-being of our patients and the education of our clients so that they can continue the best of care at home for their cats. All of this is provided in an environment that encourages the wellbeing of our staff with weekly meetings to check in with one another and share what good experiences we have had and what new things we have learned as well as an on-site mental health professional and exercise equipment. We also have a space for a massage therapist and a nap room for staff quiet time. Our clients are made to feel at home with comfortable furniture and surroundings similar to those found in a... home.
We have ultrasound, digital dental and general X-rays, a fully equipped laboratory and hospital (including heated kennel, oxygen kennel, etc.), rigid endoscopy, fully stocked pharmacy, and a surgical suite with heated operating table. Exams are unrushed to ensure adequate time to fully evaluate each patient, answer client questions, and develop optimal treatment plans that meet the individual needs of each cat and client.
We offer a family friendly practice environment, with 3-to-3.5-day work weeks available and no emergency or on-call duties. Benefits include a competitive salary, friendly work environment, paid time off, major federal holidays, medical, dental, and long-term disability insurance, SIMPLE-IRA with company match, and paid feline CE. Local as well as national or international meetings are in easy reach. We strive to provide a veterinarian to support staff ratio of approximately 1 to 5 and expect to see an average of 10 appointments per day per doctor at this time. The owner has an open door policy and is always open to hearing how employee's experiences can be better.
Located in beautiful central Connecticut, there are ample opportunities for both outdoor and indoor adventures. There are many miles of walking/cycling trails and hundreds of miles of road cycling routes, hiking trails and fishing/kayaking/sailing on the water. For those desiring more sedate time off, there are both outdoor and indoor museums and lots of "spectator" entertainment. The quaint small towns that retain their heritage from the 1600-1700's are fantastic to explore as well as the larger cities and coastline. New York City is within driving or train travel distance for day trips while living in small to medium size towns. School systems offer fantastic opportunities for children, and finding a town in the area that has a school system meeting the expectations of parents is a breeze. Living in a small town and having all of the advantages of a large city close by just can't be beat!
If you’re compassionate, outgoing, upbeat, reliable, gentle with cats, able to remain patient with their caregivers, possess a strong attention to detail, and love the challenge of medicine and the opportunity to improve the lives of your patients (and, by extension, their human caregivers), then we want to hear from you!
