Thank you for your interest in the Dechra Student Representative Program! This fun and rewarding experience will give you the opportunity to learn about, and use, many of the products Dechra offers. The goal of this position is to stimulate interest in Dechra, as well as educate and bring awareness to your colleagues in regards to Dechra’s products and programs. This position should not interfere with your veterinary studies; representative responsibilities should be done as an extracurricular activity.
Dechra is looking for a companion animal Student Ambassador for Cornell!
The responsibilities of a Dechra student representative include the following:
First and foremost- the student must be a student in good standing with the university and approved by the administration of Cornell. Student is responsible for remaining eligible to represent both the university and the organization. Student is also responsible to ensure that all Dechra activities are within university guidelines.
Attend product training at the beginning of each school year to prepare you to demonstrate the value of Dechra products to your peers and faculty. Additional training session will be scheduled for students who start as a Dechra Student Representative in the middle of a school year.
Act as a liaison between students, faculty, and school pharmacy.
Educate peers and staff about Dechra’s products.
Introduce yourself as the Dechra Student Representative to the various faculty heads at your school.
Plan lunch and learn (or dinner) events, when a Dechra Field Veterinarian can present on a non-promotional topic
A minimum of one educational event per year is required.
Student must partner with Cornell CVM school group to remain within university guidelines
These events can only be for students at your university.
Work with the OSAS to sponsor student activities such as wellness week activities, etc as university policy allows.
Attend your school’s Pharmacy Day, Open House, or other similar events on Dechra’s behalf.
Submit a semester report (December and April) describing your activities that have taken place during the prior semester and what you are planning for the following semester. Also, provide feedback from students and faculty in regards to their experiences with Dechra.
Partner with SAVMA to promote Dechra national student webinars (in professional services and diseases- given by external key opinion leaders). Work with SAVMA to offer SAVMA points to attendees.
The following resources will be provided to you to assist with the achievement of the above responsibilities:
A annual stipend of $750.00 (paid in late November or early December) for your work as a Dechra Student Representative.
Unlimited access to your Dechra University Relations Team through email
Access to Dechra Veterinary Professional Services for requests on lectures for student rounds, club meetings with a guest speaker, etc.
Access to product literature and similar resources to distribute to students and faculty.

An event budget for the school year. This budget can be used to sponsor events, purchase items for events, donate to school charities, or to use how you see fit to assist with your position. Prior approval is required in the form of a Budget Request Form for use of your funds. Please select programs that will deliver the best value to Dechra and your school. Any of these must be approved by Cornell CVM OSAS.
This budget is $1000 for the year and should be used for both companion animal and equine activities. If there are other needs above this budget- you must get approval of your aligned University Relations Team Leader.
