Animal Clinic of Ava is a multi-doctor, mixed-animal practice with a young, cooperative support staff and doctors who love sharing their experiences and mentoring any eager learner. We believe in bringing modern medicine to this great, small-town community while building relationships and serving the area. Our commitment of meeting the farmer or pet-owner where they're at means we see patients in our small animal clinic, large animal facility or as a mobile call to the house or farm. With above-average schools, low-cost raw land and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities, we know you'll love this area as much as we do!

Company History

Mike A. Peters, DVM is a our practice owner who started Animal Clinic of Ava 15 years ago from the ground up after two years of work as an associate in a private practice in his hometown of Marshfield, Missouri. He is experienced and knowledgeable in all types of species, large and small, and is now focusing on Equine work, specifically dental and lameness cases. Dr. Beth Kearns is a UMCVM alumni who joined the practice in 2014 and enjoys seeing small animals. She is on the surgery rotation and loves bringing progressive ideas and information to our small animal medicine side. Dr. Emma Knickmeyer is a 2022 graduate of UMCVM and fits right in here working on mixed-animal medicine and surgery. She brings fresh ideas to the table and has a cool oxen team she loves working with in the off time!

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition

Partners with University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine's food animal preceptorship program to offer hands-on learning in our practice using a robust task list for students to accomplish during a two-week period.
Externship program available for small or mixed animal interests, offered to third-year and fourth-year enrolled veterinary students.
