Greenwood Asher & Associates invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Rocky Vista University. Rocky Vista University (RVU), a nationally recognized health sciences institution, seeks an entrepreneurial and visionary leader to serve as the founding Dean of its innovative College of Veterinary Medicine. Based in Billings, Montana—one of the fastest-growing communities in the Mountain West—the Dean will establish and lead a state-of-the-art veterinary medicine program dedicated to advancing animal health, workforce development, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
The Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine will:
- Launch and guide the growth of a new Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program, shaping curriculum and academic culture from the ground up
- Recruit, develop, and empower a high-performing, collaborative team of faculty and staff committed to innovative teaching and scholarship
- Foster a modern, inclusive learning environment leveraging advanced technology, simulation, and clinical training
- Build strategic partnerships with veterinary practices, industry, and community stakeholders to address critical veterinary workforce needs and enhance student opportunities
- Lead accreditation efforts and ensure graduates are prepared for licensure and practice-readiness
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will have a DVM degree from an accredited institution and either a PhD or board certification. They will also have a distinguished record as an associate or full professor at a well-regarded higher education institution and have a demonstrated record of the following:
- Administrative leadership and strong business acumen, including experience with strategic planning and budgeting.
- Success in overseeing a complex academic organization, including management of academic, operational, and administrative elements, preferably in a College/School of Veterinary Medicine.
- Development of high-quality curriculum and academic programs, with a focus on student experience and student learning outcomes.
