Description
The Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch is a 18,500 square foot stand alone hospital in the Sarasota/Bradenton, FL area. Our hospital has a busy 9 doctor General Practice as well as an attached 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Center. Our hospital is privately owned and located in a fast-growing community where most clients can afford work ups and continued care for their pets. We are about 1 hour south of Tampa and approximately 20-30 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. We are looking to add one full-time small animal veterinarian to our team who enjoys working up cases and practicing in a forward-thinking environment. Our hospital has a strong focus on work/life balance. Our technicians are skilled and able to focus on patient care so that our doctors can focus on practicing medicine.
We have all the latest diagnostics and treatments in hospital (i.e. doppler and oscillometric BP, ICU oxygen units, in-house IDEXX blood and urine machines, Imagyst, PT/PTT, NOVA, iSTAT, in-house cortisol, full dentistry capabilities with a handheld dental X-ray, ultrasounds, cardiopet, full anesthesia monitoring SPO2/CO2/HR/RR/Temp, defibrillator, digital x-ray, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, companion animal laser, CT scan, mechanical ventilation, high flow oxygen therapy, endoscopy, Bair huggers, and an in-house animal blood bank, etc.). Our hospital is equipped with 9 GP exam rooms, a welcoming reception area, a surgery suite, a separate dental suite, an ultrasound room, separate isolation facilities, and more. Our animal blood bank opened in November 2021 and is run by our Critical Care team in the Emergency and Specialty Center. We want you to have all the tools you’ll need to practice excellent medicine!
Our General Practice appointments are booked every 30 minutes to allow adequate time with each client/patient. Minimal work-in appointments are required and at the discretion of the doctor. Our staff is chosen not only for their medical skills, but also for their kindness and attention to customer service and patient care. We have a minimum of 2 technicians per doctor per day. Our Emergency & Specialty hospital care operates within the same facility with a separate entrance featuring 13 exam rooms, three surgery suites, two reception areas, a dedicated ICU, isolation facilities, and a separate feline ward.
We are equipped with advanced technology to support complex case management, including: CT (2026 GE Maxima 128-slice), ultrasound (4 units), fluoroscopy, and endoscopy. We also offer mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy at our hospital.
Our multidisciplinary team currently includes:
9 General Practice Doctors
12 Emergency Veterinarians
2 Criticalists
1 Radiologist
2 Surgeons
1 Ophthalmologist
1 Cardiologist
SCHEDULE:
Our GP doctors typically work 3 ½ - 4 shifts per week, with a schedule that includes alternating Saturdays 8am – 2pm.

Requirements
DVM with 2 years minimum experience in General Practice medicine.
