Location: 1610 Philadelphia Pike, Wil. DE 19809
Job Title: Full Time Veterinarian
Salary: negotiable
Schedule: Flexible options; 4-5 day work week available with rotating half-day Saturdays, 1 surgery day per week
The role:
At this time, we are actively seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian for our primary hospital location at 1610 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, Delaware 19805. While there may occasionally be opportunities to assist with our mobile veterinary practice, this position is primarily focused on our hospital location. You will play a pivotal part in maintaining the health and well-being of our animal patients through preventative medicine, diagnostics, and customized treatment plans. We are looking for a veterinarian that prioritizes building positive client relationships as well as building relationships with the team around them. We would like our candidate to handle a fast-paced environment, managing several patients and clients daily. Key responsibilities would be patient care, surgery and dentistry, diagnostic interpretation, client education and team leadership. Once week surgery days are preferred. Routine surgeries would include dentals, neuters, spays, growth removals. Performing more advanced procedures is also welcomed as we do want to expand our surgery services. We are looking to grow, we are looking to grow others, and we want to grow together.
About us:
We started out as mobile unit in 2021. We then purchased this practice in 2025 along with keeping our mobile practice. Padfoot Veterinary Practice is a privately owned small animal practice, established in 2021. We currently care for dogs and cats but are open to exotic care if a candidate would like to provide that service. We have technicians that have worked in exotic hospitals previously. Our appointments are 30 minutes long while also offering emergency appointments (same day fit in appointments) when necessary. If the emergency is deemed to be too critical, we usually refer the patient to an emergency facility. Our practice caseload varies between 25-30 appointments per day. A single veterinarian may have 14-18 patients per day. Our facility is equipped with digital radiography, in-house lab equipment (CBC and Chem) and veterinary technicians that are fully utilized. We attempt to have 2.5 staff members per doctor each day.
We believe our culture is one of our biggest assets. Our team values are kindness, empathy, respect and fun. These values are practiced with each other as well as our patients and our clients. We are not fear-free certified but fear-free practices are important to us. We believe in allowing veterinarians to practice the medicine they would like to practice. We understand each client is different and can come with their own restrictions and challenges. What we want is to get the best outcome for that patient and client on that day. We love to have discussions as a group if standards of care need to be modified or updated. We attempt to have staff meetings once a month, if not, every other month. We believe everyone has a voice and everyone is a solid piece in our very big puzzle. We want to get bigger, we want to get better and we want to provide the best care we can for our surrounding community. We believe in ourselves, we believe in our practice, and we promise to believe in you.
At Padfoot, we have worked very intentionally to build a practice culture centered around teamwork, collaboration, positivity, and providing exceptional medical care. While every business has financial goals, our philosophy has always been that when we focus on practicing good medicine and doing right by our patients and clients, the business naturally follows. We are looking for a doctor who shares that same mindset and values being part of a team that prioritizes both medical excellence and a healthy workplace culture.
